STEP 02

PLAN YOUR SESSION

Tell MatchPrep your ammo count. It does the rest.

Tap "Plan Session" from the dashboard. Enter how many rounds you have — or customize to your needs with any amount. Choose your sport (USPSA, IDPA, IPSC, or PCSL), select your focus skills, and MatchPrep generates an optimized drill sequence in seconds.

Choose pistol drills, rifle/PCC drills, or both with auto ammo split
Select focus skills: Draw, Accuracy, Speed, Reloads, Transitions, Movement
Set difficulty from Beginner to Expert
Duration presets from 30 minutes to 3 hours
Or build a custom session by hand-picking drills from the 128+ drill library
Pro Tips
Start with 50-round sessions to learn the workflow before scaling up
Use the "Dry Fire" option for at-home practice with 32 dedicated drills

STEP 03

RUN YOUR DRILLS

Follow the sequence. The app guides you through each drill.

Once your session is generated, tap "Start Session" to begin. Each drill shows setup instructions, par times, round count, and coaching tips. Complete each drill, log your reps, and move to the next one. The app tracks your progress through the session in real time.

Clear setup instructions for every drill (distance, target, start position)
Par times and round counts displayed prominently
Coaching tips to help you improve technique
Skip, repeat, or reorder drills mid-session
YouTube video demos linked to drills for visual learning
Pro Tips
Tap any drill name to see its full description, setup, and coaching tips
Use the built-in shot timer or connect your BLE timer for automatic splits
STEP 04

SCORE EACH REP

Log your hits using the correct scoring method for your sport.

After each drill rep, score your hits using the zone-based scoring system. MatchPrep supports USPSA/IPSC Alpha/Charlie/Delta zones, IDPA Down-Zero/-1/-3 Vickers scoring, and PCSL T-Zone/Alpha/Charlie/Delta zones. The app calculates hit factor, time-plus, accuracy percentage, and penalties automatically.

Tap zone buttons (A/C/D/M) to log each hit
Enter your time manually or let the BLE timer auto-fill
Hit factor calculated automatically (points / time)
Penalties tracked: misses, no-shoots, procedurals
Multiple reps per drill — track improvement across attempts
Pro Tips
Score honestly — inflated scores hide weaknesses and slow your progress
Record video of your runs to review technique alongside your scores
SCORE EACH REP
STEP 05

CONNECT YOUR SHOT TIMER

Bluetooth integration for automatic time and split recording.

MatchPrep connects to BLE-compatible shot timers for hands-free time recording. Pair your timer once, and every subsequent session automatically captures your draw time, split times, and total time. If you don't have a BLE timer, the built-in multi-par timer works great.

Supported timers: ShotGlass, ProTimer BT, RangeTech, Armanov
Automatic split recording — no manual time entry needed
Built-in multi-par timer with configurable delays and par times
Timer data syncs directly to your drill scores
Pro Tips
Make sure your BLE timer is in pairing mode before connecting
The built-in timer works well for dry fire practice at home
STEP 06

TRACK YOUR PROGRESS

Watch your skills improve over time with data-driven insights.

After each session, MatchPrep updates your skill ratings across 12 categories — from draw speed to barricade work. View trends over time, compare training sessions to match results, and see exactly where to focus your next session. AI-powered recommendations suggest drills that target your weakest areas.

12 skill categories tracked: Draw, Accuracy, Speed, Reloads, Transitions, Movement, and more
Trend charts showing improvement over weeks and months
Match results import from PractiScore for training-vs-match comparison
AI drill recommendations based on your performance data
Goal tracking with automatic progress updates
Pro Tips
Set specific goals (e.g., "Improve draw time to under 1.5 seconds") to stay motivated
Import your match results to see how training translates to competition performance
STEP 07

EARN YOUR RANK

Your MatchPrep Score reflects your total shooting performance.

The MPS (MatchPrep Score) ranking system evaluates your performance across four pillars: Accuracy (40%), Speed (25%), Consistency (20%), and Volume (15%). As you train, your composite score rises and maps to your sport's classification system — USPSA classes (U to GM), IDPA classes (UN to MA), or a general Beginner-to-Master progression. Compete on seasonal leaderboards against other MatchPrep users.

Sport-specific classification: USPSA (U/D/C/B/A/GM), IDPA (UN/NV/MM/SS/EX/MA), General (BEG/NOV/INT/ADV/EXP/MST)
4-pillar composite score: Accuracy, Speed, Consistency, Volume
Seasonal leaderboards with rank resets
Radar chart showing your pillar breakdown
Rank badge displayed on your profile and in group sessions
Pro Tips
Focus on consistency — it's the pillar most shooters neglect
Volume matters: regular training sessions boost your MPS even with modest scores
STEP 08

TRAIN WITH YOUR SQUAD

Group sessions bring accountability and friendly competition.

Create a group training session and invite your shooting partners. Everyone runs the same drills, and scores are compared in real time. See who has the fastest draw, the best accuracy, or the highest hit factor. Group sessions make training social and keep everyone accountable.

Create or join group sessions with a share code
Real-time score comparison across all participants
Shared drill sequences — everyone runs the same plan
Group leaderboard for each session
Works at the range or for remote dry-fire challenges
Pro Tips
Schedule a weekly group session to build consistent training habits
Use group dry-fire sessions for at-home practice with friends
